Filed by the French police as a homosexual, after the German invasion he was imprisoned in Schirmick concentration camp under paragraph 175. He was tortured and forced to witness the brutal murder of his lover. He was later enlisted in the German army. He kept his homosexuality a secret until 1981 when he begins to tell his story.
